Mayor: Moscow budget losses to exceed 600 bln rbl in 2020

MOSCOW, Dec 16 (PRIME) -- The Moscow budget’s losses will exceed 600 billion rubles in 2020, including 300 billion rubles of expenditures on the coronavirus pandemic, Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said Wednesday at the Moscow City Duma.

“According to the latest estimates, losses of the city budget will exceed the colossal figure of 600 billion rubles in 2020, of which about 300 billion are shortfall revenues and more than 300 are forced unplanned expenses for the pandemic,” Sobyanin said.

Nevertheless, the city’s economy withstood the blow, and all social obligations to Muscovites were fulfilled, he said.

The program to support business in Moscow will be kept in 2021, Sobyanin. Social support of the population will remain regardless of the economic situation, he added.

Restrictions connected with coronavirus will most likely remain in 2021, although they will be quite soft, Sobyanin also said.

“It is also obvious that in the coming months we will live in conditions of relatively soft, but still restrictions, and the entire global economy will continue to experience shocks,” he said.
